Leveraging artificial intelligence and bioinformatics to understand and predict B cell evolution

B cell evolution plays a central role in dictating successful immune responses but is challenging to study because of the underlying sequence diversity. The goal of this project is to develop computational software to quantify B cell evolution at single-cell resolution, understand convergent patterns of evolution across individuals, and leverage artificial intelligence to predict evolutionary trajectories. We will use both preclinical and clinical experimental data for this and hope to also use this information to instruct protein engineering strategies to computationally improve vaccination strategies.
