In the Check Republic, not far from Prague, lies the picturesque village of Svatý Jan Pod Skalou. It's here that the yearly PhD conference in Immunology takes place. This year I & I Utrecht gave two of our PhD candidates the opportunity to join this meeting.

The PhD conference, organized by the Charles University in Prague, took place from 14 to 16 October 2018. Its' purpose is to bring together PhD students in the field of Immunology. This year two of our PhD candidates joined this meeting. Helen von Richthofen and Bas Smits about the PhD conference:

“We had the opportunity to attend the 2018 EFIS PhD conference near Prague. The conference was held in a former monastery in the beautiful village Svatý Jan pod Skalou. The program consisted of lectures by international speakers (Jakub Abramson and Marianne Boes) and presentations by PhD students. There were also poster sessions, which due to the beautiful weather were held outside. Afterwards, we were treated to delicious Czech cuisine and drinks and a hike in the surrounding hills. The atmosphere was very relaxed, allowing for great and extensive scientific discussions. We could both present our work and future plans in a 30 minute talk and got valuable feedback. There was also a decent connection between talks, which enabled in depth discussion on the variable themes that were scheduled. Overall it was a valuable and fun experience and we can highly recommend to visit this conference in upcoming years!
